Use orientation to meet new people on campus. Heading off to a college where you know no one can be a daunting and isolating experience. You’ll feel better if you introduce yourself to new people. If you have selected a career, research on it as much as possible before you select a college. This will help you set the foundation for your college choice in the future. If you are unsure, you can make an appointment to meet with an admissions counselor beforehand. It may be wise to come up with a sleep schedule during the time you are attending college. You will stay quite busy, and it is easy to fall behind on sleep. You won’t be able to pay attention in class if you don’t sleep well. Get to know people who are in the same situation that you are when it comes to attending college. It is easier to succeed when those around you are also committed to growth. Of course, you can also have fun with these people. Seek out others who have a balanced approach to college life.
Look at your professors as if they are your friends. Professors are intelligent and can guide you in the right direction. Seek them out whenever you have a question or feel you can be of help in class. Developing good relationships with them can help you achieve better opportunities and grades. They are important to your success.
